November 2nd FHE Activity

Sorry for the late notice... again! We are going to have a night on the town for this month's FHE. We will either be going bowling, miniature golfing, or out to watch a movie. Think about which you would prefer and we will take a vote when we meet at Jason's house at 7:00. Don't be late so you can have a say in the activity.

October 5th FHE

Sorry everyone... the notices keep getting later and later. Thanks for putting up with me!

As most of you know Josiah Jones (one of the only members of our FHE Group who comes to every activity) is leaving on his mission to the West Indies in a few days. So for our FHE this month we are going to have a small going away party for him. We will have some snacks and games, so come visit with Josiah... it will be your last chance for two years. We will be meeting at Jason's house at 7:00.

In case any of you were wondering...

We are NOT having the game night tomorrow because all of you should be going to the Pizza in the Park Regional Activity. If you want to car pool, they will be meeting at the ward building at 6:15.

September 7th FHE

Hey Group 5! So there was a slight miscommunicaton... Jason and I were told that we would NOT be having FHE tomorrow because it was Labor Day, and then today in Sacrament Meeting they announced that we WERE having FHE. So, Sheena, being the amazing friend that she is, volunteered to take charge this month. We will be meeting at her house at 7:00 p.m. To get to her house, turn North on 700 W in Hurricane (opposite of the church). Go forward one block and her house is the white one right there in front of you.

3rd Monday’s Game Night

I know that this reminder is pretty short notice… but anyone who wants to come to FHE game night at my house tomorrow night (7:00) is welcome! For those of you who have joined us recently, this is NOT the normal FHE. Only the first Monday of the month is when we meet in “Groups”. Some of us who didn’t go to the big FHEs anyway got permission to have a smaller FHE and it is just a standing game night. We have it at my house (Shiloa’s) and we all bring our favorite games. Remember, tomorrow the Ward FHE Activity is learning CPR.

If you haven’t been to my house yet, here are directions…

Drive out of Hurricane towards La Verkin. There are 2 lights in La Verkin... Drive straight through them both. The second light is in between Farmers Market and Chevron, after going through that light you will go around a corner and down a hill. At the bottom of the hill is La Verkin Bridge. Turn LEFT as soon as the railing stops on the bridge. You will turn BEFORE Cross Creek Apartments. My house is right there (White with a red roof) Drive DOWN to the LEFT of the house. It takes about 8 minutes to get to my house from the church where we meet. My address: 989 N State St. La Verkin, UT 84745

Activity on August 3rd

Hey everyone... we should be joined by quite a few new faces in the coming months. We are now called "Group 5" and there are 21 members of our FHE Group. I will put a list of the names at the end of this note so that we can all help eachother get to the activities. I am not sure if I will be able to contact everyone... so help me out by calling your friends on the list.

Remember when we planned to make Smores at Quail Lake and then that huge thunderstorm hit? Well... we have been watching the weather and it looks clear so we are going to try again. We will be meeting at Jason's house at 7:00 on Monday (422 North 3420 West, Hurricane, UT 84737... In the Park View Subdivision behind the new Wal-Mart).

Bring a camping chair and roasting skewers if you have them! See you there...

Well... we had another successful FHE on July 6th. We made tons of fantastic pizza with Josiah's guidance. Then some of us stayed later and watched the movie Clue (including all 3 endings). We had eleven people present (taking 2nd place in attendance since we have started having these Family Home Evenings). Thanks to Jason for letting us use his house again, and Josiah for doing the pizza. Also thanks to all of you who came and made this activity great!

The activity for August 3rd has not been determined yet, so if there is something that any of you are dying to do... let us know!

Up and coming activities!

Okay folks . . . July's activity is going to be absolutely the best thing ever! I know you don't believe me, because what could be better than 18 holes of golf on a perfect day? Or, reading a great book with a good friend or a sister (or a depressing book, for those of you who are into that kind of thing ;))? Or even a nice walk just after it rained? Or a cruise to the bahamas? Or a chance to meet Tiger Woods . . . or Michael Jordan . . . or  . . . Abraham Lincoln? Well, folks, let me tell you this . . . because this will be absolutely the best thing ever!!! And, it is happening as our activity this next July. On the 6th of July.  At 7:00 pm. So, plan that day in advance . . . and be ready. Cuz we are going to eat some really good food! And, we are going to watch the movie CLUE! How awesome is that!!???? I know, that is what I thought. The basics . . . everybody will need to bring a dessert of some sorts. Preferably home made. We will be sharing, so make enough for 8-10 people or so . . . and bring the recipe. If you cannot make anything . . . come anyway! Why do I say this? Well, the other best part about this activity is that with the dessert, we will be enjoying some scrumptious home made PIZZA! This is correct. If you have never had home made pizza before, you are missing out. And this pizza is sure to be delightful because, a pro (aka Josiah) is preparing it for us (I imagine he could use some help, so there will be some of us to provide that helping hand) Anyway, this is sure to be the best thing ever. So, make the plans now, and we will be excited to see you there. Take Luck!

June's FHE

We will be having our monthly FHE on June 1st... We will be meeting at 7:00 at Jason's house - 422 North 3420 West, Hurricane, UT 84737(In the Park View Subdivision by the Fire Station, near the new Wal-Mart) and then we will go to Quail Lake. Bring your chairs!!!

Activity Ideas

Hey everyone! We really want these FHE activities to be things that you all WANT to do so this post is for the express purpose of gathering ideas. Please make a “comment” and give us some ideas of activities you would enjoy doing. I know I would like to try for that BBQ again sometime! A temple trip was also suggested.

The more ideas we get, the more fun we will have, so suggest away…. Thanks!

Lucky 13

On Monday, March 30th, our Family Home Evening Group had its first activity. There was a slight change in plans due to the cooler-than-planned weather and wind. Instead of BBQ we had pizza. We will have to try for that BBQ again at a future activity.

13 people turned out for the evening. We had a good time visiting and getting to know each other a bit better. Thank you to all of you for coming and remember to spread the word. We will be posting more information about upcoming activities on this blog, so pop in every once in a while to stay informed.
